Grant Recipients
With the first gift to UNITE made in January 2002, many individuals expressed a desire to give back to their community. Through contributions and pledges, UNITE met its goal to raise $200,000. CREATE Foundation then granted an additional $100,000. As a result, in December 2003 UNITE awarded their first grants in Union County.
The Board has continued with their annual grant cycle, awarding 126 grants to 31 organizations since 2003 totaling more than $195,000. Those that have received grant funds and the number of grants awarded are:

Recent grant recipients
James Hugh Ray Community Affiliate Award
The award commemorates James Hugh Ray's many contributions to our region and to the CREATE Foundation. Mr. Ray served with loyalty and integrity on both the Journal and CREATE Boards and became the legal architect and advisor for establishing the CREATE Foundation.
Like, Mr. Ray, UNITE has distinguished itself with many contributions to Union County. Established in 2000, UNITE projects include reading and tutoring programs for the disadvantaged, repairing homes for the elderly and needy, and providing disaster relief. Organizations supported by UNITE include Boys and Girls Club, Union County Heritage Museum, New Haven Center for Special Needs Adults, and Good Samaritan plus many others. UNITE serves to bring lasting, positive change to the people of Union County.
Union County Historical Society and Heritage Museum
Enlightens, enriches and educates the public in the social, political, cultural, economic and natural history of Union County from the earliest times to the present by collecting, researching, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting artifacts and materials as they relate to Union County's heritage.
Taylor Moore Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund
To honor the memory of their son, Taylor, Bobby and Minerva Moore of New Albany established this scholarship fund in December, 2003. The scholarship will be awarded annually to help further the education of a graduate of New Albany High School.
Dean Provence Endowment for Excellence in Education
Founded by Dean Provence in 1986 and renamed upon his death in 1992 in honor of his memory and his dedication to educaiton, this fund provides educational opportunities for the students of New Albany Public Schools that are not ordinarily provided by the regular school budget.
