UNITE Foundation for Union County MS

Union County/New Albany Initiative to Excel (UNITE) is a non-profit organization, operating as an affiliate of CREATE Foundation. Its purpose is to improve the quality of life for individuals in Union County. The Board of Directors manages the grant process by receiving and evaluating grant applications and making recommendations to the CREATE board for final approval.

UNITE only considers grant applications from non-profit, tax-exempt organizations providing services to Union County. UNITE considers requests for funding of startup projects and/or projects that show expansion of programs/services. UNITE typically does not provide funding for salaries, building projects, or continuing operational support to sustain programs or projects.

Grant Recipients
With the first gift to UNITE made in January 2002, many individuals expressed a desire to give back to their community. Through contributions and pledges, UNITE met its goal to raise $200,000. CREATE Foundation then granted an additional $100,000. As a result, in December 2003 UNITE awarded their first grants in Union County.

The UNITE endowment balance exceeds $600,000 and UNITE has awarded more than $280,000 to non-profit organizations in our community. Based on the percentage of grant disbursements to money raised locally, UNITE is ranked number one among all of the CREATE affiliates.
